The "Science" of Motherhood
‘Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she’ll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she’ll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she’ll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she’ll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit.’Twitches and Tics
Problem:
About 5 days ago I noticed my son Jake blinking repeatedly while watching TV. I thought it was a fluke and took it as a sign that he was tired. But over the next few days I noticed him do it while he was playing, running, and in the car while staring out the window. It was becoming more frequent (or I was just noticing it more often) and starting to really freak me out.
Pediatrician’s assessment:
Diagnosis- could be one of three things:
1-Allergy (environment or possibly food, but not seasonal as he is apparently too young for seasonal allergies)
2-Tic
3- Problem with his vision
She was clear in reassuring me the twitch is not to be an indication of neurological issues to come (which I was really concerned about) and if it is a tic he may out grow it as kids often do.
Immediate action:
Book an eye exam for a 2 year old boy who will not sit still for more than a nanosecond. Should be fun.
PS- when I told my pediatrician I booked Jake’s annual for next month she said, and I quote “Please bring reinforcements. We’ll need an extra pair of hands to get some kind of exam done”. That’s my boy!
